Direct-Track GPS fleet
tracking offers unparalleled management and efficiency for fleet owners and operators.
Fleet managers can keep an unbiased electronic eye on their vehicles 24/7 over the web.
This eliminates the opportunity for un-industrious employees to inappropriately
use company property for their own means. Industry insiders lament that
on the job "moonlighting" has historically slowed delivery,
squandered company resources, and ultimately cut into their bottom line.
Direct-Track GPS fleet tracking nips this issue in the bud.
In September 2003, the city of Charleston, South Carolina announced
that it had installed GPS fleet tracking devices on their waste removal fleet.
Charleston already had GPS systems on its emergency vehicles, and was
able to concretely determine the value and increased efficiency that GPS
fleet tracking can provide.
The GPS fleet tracking system allows a dispatcher sitting at a computer to know the location
of a city garbage truck at any time. The dispatcher also knows if there
are delays at the landfill, if a truck breaks down, or if a truck is delayed
in a traffic jam. If a truck has been slowed because of a heavy trash
load, other trucks can be dispatched to help finish up the route, said
Mike Metzler, deputy director of operations for the city's Department
of Public Service.
