Q: What is the DirectTrack
Unit? A: The DirectTrack GPS
tracking Unit
is a mobile GPS technology-supported black box, imbedded inside a vehicle,
that utilizes specialized microburst communications and continental cellular
networks to enable people to locate a vehicle using a standard web browser.
DirectTrack's GPS vehicle tracking and monitoring capabilities offer a host of veritable,
real-world uses. Q:
What does it do? A: DirectTrack
GPS vehicle tracking
enables parents to monitor teen drivers, fleet owners to locate a employee
out on the town, and provides theft protection for auto owners. Utilizing
a standard web browser, you can map a vehicle's location, speed, and direction
with nearly pin-point accuracy. Receive conditional alerts such as; a vehicle
driven faster than a pre-set speed limit, violating an electronic "geo-fence",
low-battery or mileage alerts and more. Access your vehicle remotely; lock/unlock
doors, enable/disable the starter, even start the engine from afar. Plus,
reporting and vehicle history data are archived and available with a click
of your mouse. Q:
How does DirectTrack communicate with vehicles? A:
A patented form of communication called microburst technology is used to
communicate with your DirectTrack GPS tracking Unit via the North American Cellular System
along with the 24 satellite GPS system.
Q: How long does it take to install a DirectTrack
unit? A: Installation time for
an experienced installer is 40 - 50 minutes, including power-up and system
checks. Q: How
difficult would it be for me to install the unit myself? A:
We recommend contracting a company that routinely installs auto alarms.
Q: How long does
DirectTrack store my history? A:
DirectTrack stores your vehicle history for 3 months.
Q: Will the lock/unlock feature work on older
vehicles with manual locks? A:
The DirectTrack GPS tracking Unit is designed for use with power door locks.
Q: Would military operations
affect usage of the satellites? A:
The Global Positioning Satellites (GPS) use different bands for military and consumer
purposes. Q:
How much are the monthly tracking charges?
A: There are Monitoring Plans available for
everyone's budget. Please see the "Monitoring
Plans" page for more information. Q:
How far does the Geo-fence extend? A:
The geo-fence radius can extend from 1/10th of a mile to 22½ miles.
Units come pre-configured to ¼ of a mile standard, however you can
customize your unit to your geo-fencing needs before it ships. Please ask
a Product Specialist for more details on "geo-fencing".
Q: What type of reporting
information is available? For how long? A:
DirectTrack GPS tracking device owners can access information and history reports about their
vehicles' location, speed, direction, stops made, as well as geo-fence and
speed violations. This information is available online for three months.
Top Speed of the Day is also available, but resets nightly at midnight and
is not archived. |
